hi. I am interested in attending NYU (specifically the College of Arts and Sciences and double majoring as a Journalism and Sociology major). I am currently a junior and I have a 4.0 weighted GPA, and a 3.8 unweighted but I’m only in one AP class (AP Eng Lang) this year and one honors class. And last year, first semester of my sophomore year, I got a C in AP European History but a B- second semester. but even w the C in AP Euro ( i royally screwed up by not doing any of my homework for any of my classes) and I think I had a 3.3 unweighted 1st semester but second semester of my sophomore year I had a 3.6 unweighted GPA. Do you think this could prevent me from getting into NYU. (I have also taken the ACT once, but I got a 27, though I only finished the english section—which I got a 33 on—, and I plan on taking the one in April. I have participated in my schools Cross Country and Track team for 3 years (including this year) and participated in 3 school theatre productions and I am currently taking MUN. In addition I am also the Opinions Editor for my school newspaper and my freshman year I was Sports Editor. But I know I have to apply for a lot of financial aid because there is no way I can pay for it all… How do my chances of being accepted look?
Have you applied anywhere else? Your GPA looks good but your ACT score is a bit below average for NYU applicants.
For CAS your GPA is low, you need about a 3.6+ at least. ACT for CAS should be 30+ is be a competitive candidate. Also, NYU does not look at weighted GPA. Don’t be worried, you still have time to improve your scores since you’re only a junior. You ecs look great, since some are related to your major. Just try to get a 4.0 this semester and get your ACT up. Good Luck!!!
@collegesplzz could you chance me for NYU CAS, Wake Forest University, and College of William and Mary? All CAS
