Chances of Acceptance at Texas A&M

Hello, I am a student at Klein Oak High School in Spring Texas, an IB High School, that is extremely competitive, and I am ranked 115 out of 926 students. My GPA is 4.8226 and I believe we are on a 6.0 GPA scale. I got a 1210 on my SAT and a 27 on my ACT. I have applied as an English major, and I have 2 great teacher recommendations. I take dual credit courses and Pre-AP with all A’s. I also applied on August 1st, so I was wondering what my chances are at being accepted. Any advice on how to increase these chances? Thank you!

You are ranked in the top quarter so your best shot is to go for academic admit.

TAMU Automatic Academic Admit:

Applicants qualify for automatic academic admission (but not necessarily to the major of choice), if they:

successfully complete Texas A&M’s required coursework, and
rank in the top quarter of their graduating class on or before the application deadline, and
meet test score minimums
New SAT:
Total score of at least a 1360 with at least:
620 Math; and
660 Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW)

Old SAT:
Composite score of at least 1300 (Math and Critical Reading) with at least:
600 Math; and
600 Critical Reading

ACT:
Composite score of at least 30 with at least:
27 Math; and
27 English

You can submit December scores as long as you submit an otherwise completed application by December 1.

Double check this with admissions - in the past you had to take the exam before the application deadline (Dec1) and the result paperwork could trail behind.
