chances of acceptance at UCLA

I am going to be a senior next year and would like to know my chances to get into ucla with my background:

9-12 (Incl PE): 4.0100
10-12 (Univ Cal A-E): 4.2500
Unwgtd 10-12 (Excl PE): 3.7700
Class Rank: 60 of 664
I have taken 3 AP courses thus far as well as many honors classes.
Next year I will take: AP English 4, AP Gov/Econ, AP Stats, AP Spanish 5, AP Bio

extracuricular:
I have been in varsity cross country and track for 3 years now.
I am also a member of various clubs: key club, red cross club, spanish club
(I am a pretty active member for key club)
Play in a nonprofit musical group (at senior homes, festivals, etc)

SAT subject test:
history: 730
math:590 (horrible, but will retake having prepared for it this time)
plan to take spanish subject test as well in november( I am confident I will do well on it because it is one of my strong subjects)

SAT reasoning test: I will take it in October

So my questions are: what are my chances to get into UCLA? what would I have to get on the SATs? Do first semester grades of senior year count for college acceptance?

are u in-state that plays a HUGE role

You're a reach ; /. I go to a a top 200 school in the nation (Arcadia) and i know way too many people who did not get in who had a higher gpa, higher sat 2's, and had 2100's. My gf had a 3.85 uw and a 2100 and 750+ on all her sat 2's and she didnt get in. One friend had a 3.7 uw academic but had a 2300 and a no go. UCLA and Cal are killer now.

SAT ~2000-2100 = match, you're NOT a reach as long as you do decently on your SATs, btw is that GPA capped at 8 sem?

1st sem grades don't count unless they require a supplemental (unless I'm totally brain dead and I'm confusing supplementals w/ another UC)

I also go (or I should way went) to a top 200 school in the nation and I know way too many people who got in with gpas lower than a 3.9 uw and SATs as low as 1700. So, I wouldn't go as far as to call it a reach. You can't determine whether it's a reach or a match just by evaluating YOUR own school. Admissions has become a game of luck.. Sure high stats will increase your luck but nowadays, there's no telling who'll get in and who won't.

I received a supplemental from UCLA. So no you are not brain dead. :) I would advise you to take your senior year very seriously because if you end up receiving one of these and your grades stink, very high chance they'll throw you into the rejection pile.

Match, if you do okay on the SAT and write great essays.

Also, this is in the wrong forum.

Excuse my ignorance but whats a "reach school"?....mind filling me in?

right now, big reach, unless you hit 2100 (which based on your math score...), have mitigating circumstances (low income, first gen to college, family circumstances) and write killer essays.

Look at the facts: You are top 9-10% in your class, which means that UCLA would have to take nearly everyone of those ranked higher. While rank is not a UC criteria, the campuses will note elc, i.e., top 4%. Thus, the first ~25 kids in your class are practically auto-admits (with great essays and only decent ECs) at Cal and UCLA. But, the point is that UCLA needs geographic diversity within the state, and will have difficulty accepting 50+ kids from one HS, even one top-ranked in the state.

Supplemental's are rare, and usually given out to those with mitigating circumstances, so assume senior grades will not count. I do not agree that UC admissions are random. Flong's experience is similar to that at our competitive HS.

fwiw: A high score on the Span Subject Test can be difficult for non-native speakers unless you are taking AP Span (or your HS has an excellent Span IV teacher).

It also depends on your course load and a lot of other factors, not just base on GPA alone. I know one girl who got in with 3.5 GPA(not sure uw, ucgpa or what)but the counselor told me. My friend also told me her daughter got in with around 3.8-4.0 GPA(not uw, maybe ucgpa) and maybe around 2200. These 2 kids are from our competitive high school. Lots of factor here, the first girl with 3.5 has better ECs, the second girl has nearly 0 EC. UCB, UCLA, UCSD are all competitive.

" But, the point is that UCLA needs geographic diversity within the state, and will have difficulty accepting 50+ kids from one HS, even one top-ranked in the state."

You might be wrong as there are lot of public schools in Bay area that gets 50+ acceptances at UCB and UCLA besides the private prep schools.

I'm from California
