chances of acceptance/scholarship

okay so right now Udel is my number one choice, i visited the campus and loved everything about it. But i am a little nervous about getting into it, my gpa weighted is a 3.83 out of a 4.0 scale, un-weighted it is a 3.47. i am currently ranked 94 out of 513 which is about 18%. my SAT scores are low but i am going to try and take them again, 1580 out of 2400 and 1060 out of 1600. I have taken all honor classes all of high school and 2 ap classes, my senior schedule is challenging as well.

UD is one of only a very few top notch national universities that puts a higher emphasis on HS course rigor/GPA/class rank as compared to SAT/ACT scores (but they are not irrelevent)when assessing students for admission. From this perspective it appears that you are at least competitive for admission unless you are applying for some of the more highly competitive majors at UD (i.e. chemical engineering, nursing, and at least several others). I assume you are applying as an OOS student. With this being said admission to UD has been becoming increasingly more competitive over the last few years as UD’s academic reputation has been steadily increasing (they just had a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry). It certainly would be helpful to your chances if you could raise your SAT scores by 150-200 points. You might also want to consider taking the ACT exam (some students seem to do better on this than the SAT’s). Apply early with great recommendations and write a dynamite essay. Take 5 major courses (with as many honors/AP courses as possible) during both semesters of your Sr. year. But you won’t know until next march if you have been accepted so, as I recommend to everyone applying to UD, you should have a back-up plan in place just in case. Best of luck to you.

I actually don’t think you are competitive at UD, I’m sorry. If you get in, I don’t think you have any chance of getting a scholarship. I wish you the best of luck and hope that somehow you do have a good outcome.

1: do you have any ECs? Udel is REALLY big on people who are more than just numbers and do things for the world. Getting those ECs can really make up for low test scores

2: Lets be realistic, with…what? 4 months left? raising your SAT scores by 200 points is going to be hard. Take the ACT, it’s your best shot.

3: Reconmendations and essays will be your friend.

4: Remember, Udel will unweight your GPA, they will see the 3.47 BUT will take into consideration the courses you’re taking. Since they are AP and honors that will help.

I dont like shooting ppl down so I wont but you should consider other schools for back up

if you really want to get in, I would suggest having an interview at the school. They do offer them, and it would give you an opportunity to present yourself in the best light possible. It would also demonstrate interest.
