Chances of Acceptance

Hello everyone! I was just wondering what my chances were for getting into UC Davis. I did also apply to UC Berkeley, UCLA and UC Santa Barbara; however, it looks like Davis is probably my most likely destination with these following stats: (But please tell me what you think!)

SAT: 1830
UC GPA: about 4.08
No SAT Subject Tests
First Generation American
First Family Member to go to college
Major in Biomedical Engineering (first choice), Political Science (Second choice)
Ethnicity: Tunisian
AP Courses: US History (4), Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Biology, English Language, English Literature

Captain of the varsity soccer team at my high school for two years
Leading goal scorer and MVP of the varsity soccer team for two years
Debate club member
Vice President of MSA club (Muslim Student Association)
Volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club
Volunteer at a hospital (in Tunisia)
GATE member
Volunteer for the mosque in my town
Club Soccer team captain (travel team)

I would really appreciate everyone’s opinion! I have already asked several people that attend UC Davis and they all told me that I shouldn’t be worried at all. But I just need some reassurance. So please, tell me what you think!

Thanks.

Uhm it honestly really depends. I have a friend who had a 4.2 and a 1980 SAT, 800 and 780 on SATII and stellar essay and fairly good EC and got waitlisted. Sooooo idk. Her’s was like a rare occasion, but still possible nevertheless. A higher SAT would be better. How are your essays?

They’re pretty good from what others have told me. But I’m hoping that I don’t have to strongly rely on the essays.

Also, I’m ranked 8th out of 315 seniors graduating from my high school, meaning I’m ELC. Doesn’t that guarantee me a spot at Davis or Santa Barbara?

ELC only guarantees Merced or Riverside this year I believe. I forget which one. Your stats are pretty good. I’ve seen people with stats like these get in but some rejected so you really don’t know.

^ It guarantees Merced.

@OP: I would say Davis is a match for you. I would be moderately surprised if you didn’t get it, but that doesn’t mean much these days. Best of luck!

It’s kinda unfortunate, but a lot of people with better GPA’s and SAT scores than mine have not been accepted, while many with worse GPA’s and scores than what I have have gotten in. Some of the choices that UC’s make sometimes seen inconsistent.

But thanks for your opinions!
