chances of acceptance

<p>I sm currently a senior at high school and want to if i have a shot at being accepted to any of the following schools : cal poly slo. carnegie mellon. nnorthwestern. Berkeley. pepperdine. san francisco state. Upenn</p>

<p>I have a 3.9 weighted gpa and willhave taken 6 ap classes. I am a mexican American, my parents didn't even go to highschool (my dad did for like a week) since they had to work. First generation college student i have taken fairly challenging classes and my electives are business related ssince i am interested in getting a business degree. I got an 1800 on my sat the 1st time Aiming for a 2000 this second time. Communty service for 3 hrs a week since the beginning of my sophmore year. I am fluent in english and Spanish(reading and writing and speaking) and have done 3 yrs of french. I have had only one c which was in art. I play community soccer and plan on being in the school team. I am an officer for a hispanic club i am also in french club, educated talent search, future business leaders of america and another cultural club. I am in a sociology all year afterschool class.</p>

<p>i agree with scderek4. Your SAT scores seem pretty low for many of these schools but I think you have an amazing extra curriculars and if you accentuate your background in college essays, you will probably have a shot at all these schools.</p>

<p>For Ivy and UCB caliber schools, you do need to improve your GPA and SAT scores a lot. Try to bring up your uwGPA to 3.8+ and SAT to 2200+. Being URM and first generation college student does help your chance a lot though.</p>

<p>i am working towards a 4.0 at the minimum
and i am also going to keep on doing community sevice
i plan on a 2000 sat
im going to take the english, spanish, and us history sat 2 test
probably around a 700 for all of these
i also got a 600 on math 2
a 560 on physics (i only took regular physics class)</p>

<p>also i am going to take the act and feel like i can get about a 30</p>

<p>i dont know if this helps but in jr. high i won a robotics competition in which i made the program and won 3rd so my partner and i competed at the state finals (i could not go =( to the finals )</p>

<p>i also have strong essay skills and i wrote my essay draft and was told very good things about it</p>

<p>Jr High accomplishments don’t go on your college application. Since you are retaking the SAT, be sure to read the pinned study tips in the SAT-preparation forum. You have to work on it systematically.

<p>What do you want to study? Generally, I’ve heard a lot of good things about Macalaster and Grinell, which are matches for you.</p>

<p>Maybe HEC (if you can stomach Montreal’s cold weather and studying in French for four years) should be doable…</p>
