I am a borderline applicant with a 3.4 & 1660 on SATs. I'm in-state as well. On the Rutgers Applicant Facebook page a girl posted that she called the admissions office and they told her Rutgers received 60,000 applications for New Brunswick. Considering the total student population of RU New Brunswick is 45,000 including upper classmen; the number of freshman they accept vs. the 60,000 applicants is clearly disproportionate so does that diminish my chance (and other borderline applicants) of getting in? I was really looking forward to attending RU, but clearly it is very competitive with the total number of people who have applied. I guess it's time to accept the fact that I won't be attending & apply elsewhere? Is it like this every year or is this year different when it comes to the number of people applying?

Nope, you should be fine. I know people who got in with lower stats than yours. Did you take any honors or AP?

4 APs in total. No honors.

Yeah you should be fine. One of my friends got into Rutgers NB Business with the same GPA as yours but a slightly higher SAT score and only had TWO, yes TWO honors classes his entire high school career. Everything else was academic.

I have 6 honors and 3 AP’s but my GPA is a bit lower (3.1). Applied on 11/29 and I’m still waiting for SAS, SEBS and RBS (would rather get in at SAS and/or SEBS though).

Good luck anyways! You seem like a solid candidate.

My GPA is around 3.74 and I’ve never taken any honors or AP courses. My SAT is 1940 (650-640-650). Got accepted for Camden (nursing), so it shouldn’t be a problem for you! I want NB though!
