My daughter has a 1400 SAT and 3.94 GPA. She is taking her first AP courses this year in Calculus, Chemistry and Government. She is also taking regular Physics and has all As so far. She has done 2 sports every school year and has a job. Her essays were really good (I think). This is her first choice school but she doesn’t have any special honors or leadership listed on her application. She already submitted her app. Does she have a shot? It looked like there was a lot of space on there for honors, leadership, etc…and I’m just really worried she won’t get in because of it. We are in state and she wants to study Biology. Any input is appreciated for this worried mom.
I should add that her GPA is unweighted but she got an A in Honors Biology and Biotechnology too.
Why worry yourself? The app has been sent, and nothing you learn here will make any difference. The absolutely best thing that you can do is help her get the rest of her applications together. Unless there is something else she needs to do for the application, do your best to forget it.
Good luck, and have her (and you) focus on the applications to come, not those which a=have been submitted
A 3.94 unweighted GPA, plus a 1400 SAT, plus taking Physics and AP Calculus, AP Chemistry and AP Government and getting all As, plus demonstrated success in courses related to her intended major, plus two sports every school year, plus a job? Your daughter is an outstanding applicant, and the UW would be lucky to have her!
Good luck!
Thank you! I’m just nervous because it’s her first choice and she wants to stay close to home. While there are other good schools, to study the sciences UW is really the best possible choice.
