Chances of Admission?

I’ve been thinking of applying to Auburn for a while and I’m wondering what my chances are of getting in.
I’m not in the top 10%, but here are some details about me.

Student in San Antonio, Texas. I studied my freshmen year in Arizona due to a military dad.
SAT score: 1750/2400 (Retaking it in October and shooting for an 1800 at least)
GPA: 3.7/4.0
AP Classes:

 • English Lang.
 • English Lit.
 • Psychology
 • Statistics

Other:

 • I’ve taken three years of Spanish, and I’m graduating distinguished.
 • I’ve been a part of the spirit organization at my school for three years Pep Squad, JV Dance, and now Varsity Dance Team.
 • I’m in NHS, and Spanish NHS, and I’m applying for Dance Arts NHS.
 • I’ve completed several hours of Volunteer Service.
 • Latino Culture Club
 • P.I.N Club
 • I’ve danced with studios outside of school

Please let me know your thoughts, they are well appreciated. Thank you!

Just looking at hard data, you scores are close to last year’s averages. For the class entering this fall, they had an average GPA of 3.81, and a 27.2 ACT. I couldn’t find the average SAT score, but a 27 ACT is equivalent to an 1860 SAT. I’d say you have a good chance of being accepted especially if you score over 1800 on your SAT re-take.

what are my chances of getting in?

Annndiee – As Mustang said, you have a very good chance. If you want a more concise idea of the admissions stats from the last several years, check out the 2011 Factbook from the Auburn Office of Institutional Research:

https://oira.auburn.edu/newstu_factbookFA11.pdf

BTW: avg. Auburn SAT score for this year’s entering freshman class: 1233/1600 – this number from the latest Factbook. This pdf is going to tell you just about every relevant statistic there is to know about the latest admission cycle.

Mpatel: While your other stats look pretty good, your ACT really needs to come up. It’s not impossible to get in with a low ACT, but it does get a lot tougher. From this year’s entering class, only 482 kids who had an ACT of 22 or below were admitted – this number is from the total group of 12,827 who were admitted. 4,202 total students actually enrolled. Your chances go up substantially if you can get at least a 23 – the admit numbers for the 23-26 crowd: 3,150/12,827 – much better odds than 482.

The overall class admission rate for this year’s class was 70%, down from around 78%.

mpatel: did you take the SAT? Sometimes students perform better on one test vs. the other. You might find you have a higher SAT than ACT.
