<p>Hello my College Confidential friends! I applied to Auburn sometime during the first week of October for regular admission and I need to do something until that decision comes through the door. I’m anxious!</p>
<p>I’m currently a senior at Brookwood High School in Snellville, GA and I’m extremely interested in Auburn’s Professional Flight Management program. It seems to suit me perfectly considering I’m interesting in business as a backup plan to my piloting career. I just need to know, what are my chances of getting into Auburn University? Also, in support of my interest in aviation, I have taken a Flight Operations course at our county vocational high school.</p>
<p>As of now, I have a 2.763 unweighted GPA. My percent average is an 82.5, so I’m an average B student. I know this is well below Auburn’s standards, but I’m just trying to get an idea. Here are the rest of my credentials:</p>

Foreign exchange trip to Germany for cultural exposure. I’ve also been exposed to other cultures in countries like Sudan, Egypt, Tunisia, Austria, and France.</p>

<p>Also, I’m an OOS student and I won’t be applying for financial aid. Will this help my chances of admission? I’ve also talked to Auburn’s admissions representative for where I live and I gave expressed to her that Auburn is my first choice.</p>

<p>I think you asked about chances in the summer – your stats haven’t really changed since then, so IMHO, here are your pros and cons:
Pros –
Your majoring in something that most likely has institutional need, though this major is probably rather difficult.
You have a number of ec’s, volunteer service, and real work experience. This helps you on the holistic end of things.
You are a full-pay OOS student.
AU is your first choice and you let the admissions office know this.
OOS students applying may drop this year due to scholarship cuts.</p>
<p>Cons –
Your GPA is okay, but not great, and you are OOS. GPA is a big deal for AU.
Your ACT is below the Auburn avg.
You applied during the early action period when admission is primarily based on grades and GPA. Holistic factors may take a back seat for now.</p>
<p>Have you received any notification yet? AU may wait to let you know after the early admission period ends. They may also want to see your 1st semester senior grades, since GPA is a big determining factor in admission. AU will want to see that you are making strides to get above the 3.0-3.2 threshold, so work on getting your grades UP. You are probably a student that is on the admissions fence for the moment – your fate may have more to do with how many have applied this fall than anything else.</p>
<p>Thanks for responding! I intentionally tried to avoid early action which was in October, so Auburn will definitely be looking at my application from a more holistic manner. Although, I did apply for first round of regular admissions, so I don’t know if that helps me or not. I’m glad there are more pros than cons, but I really hope I do not get deferred until after first semester since I’m wanting to make my decisions based on whether I get into Auburn as soon as possible.</p>
<p>Auburn says on their website I will have some sort of decision by the fifteenth, so we’ll have to wait and see. My APs do help, correct?</p>
<p>APs will help, but not so much if your grade(s) are low in these courses. Which APs are you taking? Level of difficulty may be a factor as well, if admissions is trying to gauge how well you’ll handle college-level classes.</p>
<p>I’m taking AP Envronmental Science, AP Government, and AP Macroeconomics. I think my grades should come out alright in those classes, but not amazing, that’s for sure.</p>
<p>These classes are a good sampling for both of your interests (flight management, business) – work really hard this last half of the semester – B’s at least – it will help!</p>
