Chances of Admission

Hey guys. I have always been interesting the military mainly because my whole family has served in one way or another. I make pretty good grades, mostly As, 3.7 GPA. I also take AP and honor courses. I took the ACT and got a 25 in math and science and a 22 in english and reading(going to retake it until i get close to 30 composite). I play varsity sports (Football, Wrestling Lacrosse), even as a freshmen. I am in Boy scouts andCivil air patrol, and apart of a sailing club at a local lake. I have been a baseball coach on the little league team, and umpire in little league, and treasure of the Veterans Heritage project at my school, and going to start and be president of a Engineering club, probably the closest thing to leadership so far. I just finished my sophomore year.

My father graduated from the Air Force Academy in 94 and served 20 years as a pilot and is now an airline pilot for southwest. Do you think this would give me a little boast in my chances in getting into the academy, or any other military academy?

I also live about 45 minutes away from the academy if that changes anything.

Any advice for things i need to work on?

Having a parent that is a USAFA alum…won’t hurt. Living that close to USAFA probably means you’ll have a lot of competition for a nomination. Just keep doing what you’re doing and eventually get your ACT/SAT scores up to 30/1300+. In the mean time relax and enjoy high school…you seem to be on the right track. Good luck!
