Chances of Admissions/ Merit Money? Please!

Hi! I’m sorry to do one of these, but… please chance me! I love Lafayette and want to be realistic about my chances!

Female, White
GPA: 3.85 / 4 (uw) 4.53 / 5 (w) Top 10%
ACT: 33
English 31, Science 31, Math 34, Reading 34
7 APs, rest are Honors
Opted to take online HS course for Portuguese, in addition to AP Spanish
**Want to major or minor in a Language or English

Recommendations: Awesome (I think) (10/10)
Essay: Pretty darn good (8/10)
ECs: Good (8/10)… Preschool Assistant Teacher for 2 yrs, Overnight Summer Camp Counselor (144 hrs/wk, 8 wks), President of Community Service Club, Active Youth Group Member, Art Student with private classes, Peer Tutor, Member of 2 other school clubs.

I also sent in an art portfolio which I think turned out well (9/10)
I interviewed once at one of those Big Interview Sessions in which a bunch of applicants interview with counselors/ alum at a hotel. I also met with a local alum in my town, after she requested to meet with me. So basically, I had 2 interviews that went very well.

What do you think? Solid Chance?
I have seen the data for the Marquis Fellowships/ Scholarships and my stats look similar to those, but what sets people apart for that? Do you think the interviewing helped?
Thank you!!!

Your stats look great! Lafayette was the runner up choice for my son last year. He too absolutely LOVED Lafayette. Based on what little I know, your stats look great! You probably know that they do an on-site interviewing process for those top scholarships. My son attended that and it is intense but fun! My S felt that the admissions interview helped him tremendously in getting the on-site Marquis interview. He felt the students were sharp and on-the-ball, yet very down to earth.

Best of luck to you – I have no doubt you will do well and end up somewhere perfect for you.

@deborahb great, thanks! Awesome to hear. Did your son have an alumni interview or with an admissions counselor? I was unable to meet with a counselor, unfortunately, so hopefully, the alum interviews will be enough.

His was with an admissions counselor. I would think the alum interview would work well too. Did you feel good about the interview?

@deborahb Yes, I think they went well. Was your son notified of the scholarship with his general acceptance? Or before/after?

I believe he was notified of some scholarship money with his acceptance but the bigger award came later after the on site “dynamic assessment”.

@deborahb hey! awesome news! I was invited to the Dynamic assessment!!!

Congratulations mrc4081. How did you find out?

@soproudmama Big Envelope in the mail today

My S got the mail today too…invited to Dynamic Assessment!

Congratulations! Lafayette is a wonderful school. Our family loved it. Your credentials are excellent. Best of luck with the Marquis Fellowship and Marquis scholarship selection!
Our daughter chose ultimately not to attend but she and we loved the school and their admissions department.
Best Wishes!

Does anyone know if you don’t receive an invite to the dynamic assessment that it means you are out of the running for the Marquis Scholarship(the smaller of the scholarships) or just out of the running for the larger of the scholarships?

@momofzag Nope, it said in my invite that about 225 people are awarded the Marquis Scholarship, while only 120 of us were invited to compete for the Fellowship. You still have a chance at the scholarship.

did anyone ED receive any scholarship notice yet (like did you get the scholarship with your acceptance)

@mrc4081 what state are you in?

@lussekatten1213 I’m in MA, and I was an RD applicant
