Chances of an app developer with low SAT scores getting into a top university.

Hi!
I've attempted the SAT thrice, and have gotten the scores of 1770, 1790, and 1860. In SAT Subject tests, I've got 740 in Math level 2 and 720 in Physics. I have a 108 in TOEFL. I am an international student.

I have many a few applications for Windows, but have released only one. The one that I have released have gotten close to 20,000 downloads, and have been highly praised by established tech websites. I am also having a rich activity profile, and is also the head of the student government in my high school.

Will these positives that I have give me a possibility of getting into schools like MIT, Harvard, Stanford, UCB, CalTech or Carnegie Mellon for the major of COMPUTER SCIENCE or EECS? Which all could be the top universities that I have a higher chance of getting into?

Bump.

The schools you’re citing have very few international admits – and they tend to have the highest test scores and GPAs. Certainly there are great US schools that would love to have you and where you could thrive. You just happen to mention 5 of the toughest. Please look more broadly. Purdue? Illinois Inst of Technology? Rose Hulman? RIT? Georgia Tech?

An international applicant with your scores has no chance of getting into any of the schools you have listed. Aim much lower.

Carnegie Mellon admitted around 400 students out of 6500 applicants for CS last year so you can imagine how hard it would be. So apply to one or two if you like but make sure you have a lot of realistic choices as well.
