I am currently a freshman and I strongly would like to become valedictorian. I checked online my GPA on a 5.0 scale and my class rank as of the final grades for Semester 1 and my GPA was a 4.50 and I ranked #7 out of 672. Are my chances at becoming valedictorian gone to those who are #1-#6 out of our class, or is it still possible to move higher up as the years go by?
Anything is possible, but that requires the 6 ahead of you to do substantially worse than you in future semesters.
The bigger issue is that this is not something you should focus on as a freshman; indeed, I would posit that you should never focus on it. If it happens, it happens. But in the grand scheme of things, outside of maybe some scholarship programs, it is unlikely that anyone other than you and your parents will care.
