Chances of being able to transfer to columbia university?

Hello all,

I'm a freshman at Tufts university. It's very nice here, I'm not complaining, but I don't think it's the place for me. Maybe it's because I'm a new yorker? The people here are very nice and the courses are great but...yeah. It's not really for me at all, and I'm pretty depressed here because I feel so out of place.

I'd love to move back to new york city. I applied to Columbia university before but I was denied. I'd apply to NYU, but the financial aid is terrible. I chose Tufts because I received a full ride, and I'm reluctant to give that up...but I'm miserable here and hoping to move to a good university in New york (my dream...Columbia).

So what do you think are my chances at Columbia? Will columbia still look at my high school transcript? What are the standards that transfer students have to go by?

Thank you!

It’s my understanding that transfer admissions are much more competitive…on the other hand, it’s all about how you sell yourself. Reevaluate what you wrote last year in your apps and see how you could discuss how you’ve matured/refined your views in the last year? You might want to stress the Japanese skills evidenced by your username, my app this year was half about that ^^
