I toured the campus on Monday, and I'm head over heels in love!
I'm a dance major at a top-ranked arts school, and I've been dancing since I was 3. I've been dancing at a Christian ballet studio since elementary school, and I've also been a member of a non-profit dance company in south Florida since freshmen year. I'll probably have between 700 and 900 hours of community service from my dance studio.
ACT: 33 (English- 35, Math-32, Reading- 33, Science- 32, Combined English and Writing- 30).
SAT's weren't too good: 2060 (Critical reading- 690, Math- 650, Writing- 710).
I'm taking my Literature and Math 2 SAT 2's in October, and I scored a 750 on US history.
AP's: Human Geography- 5, US History- 5, Psych- 5, Statistics- 4. This year I am taking AP Biology, AP European History, AP LAnguage, and AP US Government.
GPA: was about a 3.7 (unweighted) and 4.3 (weighted), but it will go up after the classes I took tis summer are calculated into it (A in dual enrollment survey of calculus, A in Spanish 3 Honors, two A's at Brown.) My new GPA will hopefully put me in the top 10% of my class. Also, my grades have been steadily improving since freshman year.
Summer Activities: In 2007, I travelled to Australia as a People to People student ambassador. In 2008, I travelled to Europe with the same program. In 2009, I took Basic Drawing and Careers in Advertising and Marketing at Fashion Institute of Technology and received A's in both, although they were not for credit. This summer I did a seven week credit-bearing program at Brown University and received A's in both of my classes.
Leadership positions include: Co-Vice President of Freshman and Sophomore Class council, Historian of National Dance Honor Society for Junior and Senior year, President of National Honor Society for senior year.
Clubs include: Film Club, Performing Arts for the Community, and Greenwill.
oh, and I plan on writing a kick ass essay.

Have you considered applying to Barnard?
I think you would have a good shot there with your dancing hook. But it’s all girls. However, if you visited Columbia you may have seen it…it’s literally right across the streets, so you can still take classes at Columbia. I dunno about Columbia, it might be a little bit of a reach w/ your SAT scores and not perfect GPA. I’m applying ED and my SATs are the same (but hoping to improve this fall), similar courseload, and a 4.0 GPA & I feel it’ll definitely be a huge reach for me. However, your really strong ECs will set you apart so you do have a shot.

Apply to Barnard, its better because your in dance

well I think you have a decent shot at Columbia, the dancing and australia/europe thing will help you. though your SAT scores are in the lower edge of admitted students.what the hell, go for it. write some good essays and you should be fine.
