Chances of being accepted to Drexel?

I am currently a Junior in High School:

GPA: 3.6/4.0(As of last year)
Rank:59/320(As of last year)

I expect my GPA and Rank to rise this year, I am putting all effort into school this year and next.

I want to go to Drexel for Information Technology (I.T.) - 5-year with co-op

I have been in all A level classes during HS, except for Math which has been all Honors(Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calc). My first two years in school I was getting high/low A's/High B's in all my classes, I believe I had 2 C's last year, One in History and One in Math. This year I have improved greatly. My last report card was all A's with the exception of an 87 in Reading and a 90 in Math.

I am in/have taken mostly technical classes for my electives, Technical Drafting, CAD, Architecture, Basic Computer and Networking, Integrated Tech, Emerging Technologies, and Cisco(It is a two year course, I am taking my first year this year, It is the soonest I could have taking it - it is a Junior to Senior course). Last year I was also an Aid in a Computer and Networking class. I have done excellent in all of these classes, All A's 95 or above.

I am taking the SAT in January for my first time, I took the PSAT in October, my score was a 149 (My guidance councilor said to add a zero on the end to get a rough score of what my real SAT would have been)

I am not in any sports in school, I am planning on joining the Golf Club this spring though.

I have community service hours, Including Adopt A Road, working with the MADD organization, and I am in the Environmental Club in school.

I am involved in a few clubs at school, The Environmental Club(as mentioned before), The Key Club(We do things for needy people), and the Foreign Language Club.

I am curious to know what my chances are of being accepted into Drexel at my current status - Any input would be great, Thank You.

You GPA is right there and Drexel has a very high acceptance rate (82% according to collegeboard.com). Just one question though, is your PSAT score based on all three sections or just the two old ones (critical reading & math)? If your PSAT score is from all three sections, it's on the low end for Drexel, but if it's only from two of them, a 1490 out of 1600 is tremendous for Drexel and would probably make you an excellent Honors College candidate. Regardless, you still have plenty of time to up your SAT score if it was a composite of the three sections.

Thankyou QNYergrl, My PSAT score was out of 2400 - I have taken SAT prep cources (The PSATs were back from October, I have gotten about three months of prep after the PSATs, I take my first read SATs tomorrow, January 27th, I will know in two weeks how well I did.

Do you happen to know what is an ideal score I should be looking at to almost gaurentee me getting into Drexel, and a "Safe" score also

Thankyou :-)

According to collegeboard, the 25th percentile of incoming freshman at Drexel scored a combined 1080 while the 75th % 1290. The stats for the relatively new writing section aren't on the site, but I doubt Drexel will weigh that section as heavily as the others or at all. I would aim for a 1200 on the 1600 scale. Good luck with the SAT's tomorrow!

Thankyou again QNYergrl,

I think I did well today, I did excellent on the Essay and Math. I think I did okay on the Grammar sections of it. I suppose we'll see in two weeks or so!

Test Date Test Score National Percentile

    Critical Reading 460 34%
    Math 540 56%

Multiple Choice 50 (score range: 20-80)
Essay 7 (score range: 2-12)

Thats what I got on my SATs, It is lower then what I expected to get, but considering it was my first time taking them, I think I did OK. It look like I am going to have to improve a bit to get in. Correct?

Interestingly enough, your composite SAT score is the same as your composite PSAT score. As of now your SAT score isn't even in the lowest 25% of the SAT scores of current Drexel freshmen. I think you'll should aim for over 500 in Reading and 600 in math. That way you'd be in Drexel's range of SAT scores. You have plenty of time to take the SATs again, considering you're a junior.

Are you also an international? Because I notice that you've taken A levels.

Good luck

Thankyou again for the information QNYergrl,

I am from the US, I live about 30 minutes from Drexel.
