Chances of being admitted for Fall 2018?

My daughter is a senior in a CA public high school. Her stats are 4.1 w UC GPA; 1180 SAT with writing; 660 reading/ 520 Math, 17 on writing. What are her chances of getting onto UCSC? We’re worried about the 520 Math score, which is below the 25th percentile. BTW, she gets A’s in math classes, incl calculus.

UC’s are very GPA focused so I think she has a good chance at an acceptance. Since UCSC does not admit by major, she should fine especially if she is doing well in her HS Math courses.

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 (capped weighted):
UCSC: 85%

Edited for UCSC’s application review info:

  • Santa Cruz
    *
  • Very important: Academic GPA, Application essay, Rigor of secondary school record, Standardized test scores, State residency

  • Important: Character/personal qualities, Extracurricular activities, First generation college student, Geographical residence, Talent/ability

  • Considered: Volunteer work, Work experience

  • Note: Test scores, GPA in required subjects most important. Personal statement very important.

thanks–she’s still preparing the personal insight statements so she hasn’t filed any UC applications. Also applying to Riverside Cal Poly Pomona and SDSU in the least impacted science major.
