Chances of being admitted to Cockrell Engineering at U of Texas

I am from a very competitive Texas high school where you basically need to take all AP classes and get A's in them to be top 10 percent. My school does not rank outside top 10 percent but I would assume I'm somewhere around top 20 percent. I do a lot of community service and am involved in extracurriculars such as philosophy club, NHS, And others like Young Men's Service League. My essays (I wrote all 3) were, as I believe, very well written. I have a 1980 SAT (1380 CR+Math). Anyone know what the chances are of me getting in? I have a brother there too if that helps. Mechanical Engineering is what I applied to.

Hi! I’m from a Texas school like yours, except I’m public and we have IB and AP. (Plano, and I’m in IB) I am at top twenty and all IB student in top 10 end up getting into engineering if they want to. I think your SAT is kind of low for Cockrell, but I know a few anomalies who get in with low SAT and rank. Mechanical engineering tends to be one of the more competitive branches, so I hope you’re lucky because I know people with stats like yours that got turned away.
