Hello! I am currently a sophomore in college and I applied to UC Berkeley as a transfer student for Fall 2011. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me any information on what they think my chances are for getting in. Thank you so much!

Here is some of my information:

Accumulative Gpa: 3.77
Last Semester Gpa: 3.92

Clubs/ Activities: Sorority- helped organize events, Civil Dialect Club, Italian Club, Italian Film Club

Work: Paid intern at one of the top law firms in California.

*** I am applying from a 4- year college, which is third priority for admittance :(

Major Applied for: Rhetoric

This is something I really want and I would appreciate feedback from anyone!!

hmmm, what 4-year do you go to? Is it a CSU?

I went to Arizona State University for three semesters and now I am at a JC for a semester. I am still considered a 4-year transfer though even though I am at a JC. Also I am a California resident. I know that the Csu schools have the same priority though as any other 4-year school ( except if its a UC- which is second priority)

I think i’m gonna get in :D

Rhetoric is not a popular field. You have a competitive GPA. But again 4yr Uni to UC transfers are hard. Your essays will make or break you. What did you write about?

I heard Rhetoric is not really popular, but it is what I am really interested in. I really want to go to Law School and I talked about how over the years I have come to that realization. I began an internship here in California for one of the top 5 trial lawyers in the nation and I told them how that was what finally made me realize this is what I wanted to do. I started working there after I was hit by a drunk driver with my friends, but I really did not want to focus on that aspect of it. It may not be the most tear jerking or inspirational story, but still its my story so hopefully they will appreciate that.

my girlfriend applied to berkeley as a rhetoric major as well! hopefully you both get in and can laugh about your applications over coffee on telegraph ave. :D

Somebody chance this:

GPA: 2.96
Major: Biochemistry
TAG

EC: Volunteered at a homeless shelter 3 years ago.

If you round this GPA, it is a 3.0… which means it is a B average.

I think Berk is going to accept a B average student. This is good.

@yheafreak, are these your stats? If so, you are a high reach for berkeley.

@yheafreak and other people at College confidential,

I have a good friend with a 2.98 gpa applying for berkeley, ucla, uc davis, ucsc as an anthropology major. Her EC’s are
working at the transfer center at her Community college, volunteers at the share institute for austistic kids. She was diagnosed with celiac disease and that affected her performance at school. What are her chances for getting into berkeley/UCLA?

“I think Berk is going to accept a B average student. This is good.”

nah

lol theres no TAG at berkeley and pinoiako, i think your friend has a good shot at davis and ucsc.
very high reach for berk/la but if her story was excellently put in her personal statements i think it’ll just a reach then.

@redoplease, she also added that she was taking care of her sick mother as well who unfortunately passed away last week.

ouch, i hope shes doing okay. thats so rough.
but yeah i think her mother’s passing will be a good basis for an appeal if she does get rejected from her top choices. (not to sound insensitive or anything )

@redoplease, am I a high match-match for Berkeley or UCLA?
