I recently got an email that I was named a finalist for the BN Duke scholarship. This was very unexpected, as I had applied ED. I know many other schools often do not give out merit aid to students accepted ED because they are legally bound to going whether they get any money or not. Does anyone know if Duke has given this scholarship to ED applicants in the past? Are my chances any worse than a regular decision applicant’s?
At Duke, the financial aid and scholarships are completely independent of admissions. Duke has no problem attracting qualified candidates, so they have no need to withhold money from committed students.
@albertsax That’s really good to hear. I had just finished reading another thread from an alum that said they had never met an ED admit who had received the scholarship and I got worried.
I can assure you that alum evidently hadn’t met many people.
