well, what's your rank, first of all?

Have a chance. You will probably get waitlisted and than accepted RD.

I don't think anyone can give you a guess as to whether you'd be accepted at JHU or Tufts without knowing how you compare to your high school peers. Please give that info and I'd be happy to comment as I was accepted at both schools (am now a senior at Tufts).

my school doesn't rank. but im definitely in the top 25%. my school is a prestigious public high school, and is ranked in the top 15 high schools nationwide.

Even if your school doesn't rank, it's required to send something that gives a better idea than just "top 25%". For example, my school didn't rank either but sent the average, highest, and lowest grade for every class I took in my junior & senior years and then placed my own grade next to those three grades. Since my grade was either the highest or near the highest, the schools I applied to had a pretty specific idea of how I compared to my peers.

Would you say that you're near the top 5%, the top 10%? Top 25% is pretty vague.

That being said, assuming you're near the top 10%, I think you have a solid chance at JHU ED. Tufts admissions is a bit more selective, so I suggest that if you get deferred from JHU and are feeling wary, to apply ED II to Tufts. Good luck!

(PS: What do you want to study?)

if youre going to andover i dont think itll be a problem...

I want to study international relations and I know that Tufts is famous for its international program.
I also have a question about the Tufts early admission program. Is there any difference between early decision round I and round II? What are the benefits/drawbacks of each round? I'm confused as to why there tufts has two early decisions.
Thanks so much, lolabelle. I've read about JHU earlier this morning and found out that JHU isn't a place where I want to be. I'm going to have to withdraw my application from that school. However, I feel that Tufts would be AMAZING and would be where I really want to be. Do you think that I'm strong enough of a candidate to be accepted to Tufts through ED Round II?

edit: mistake.

if ur in the top 15 schools
ur in the school woth those grades

that means ur grades are crazy deflated

Hey, MShim89!

Wow, great to hear you think Tufts is where you want to be. By the way, I'm a senior IR major now! The program is excellent! There's also lots of other great departments in related fields: Peace & Justice Studies, International Letters & Visual Studies (for the arts-inclined), and, of course, Political Science.

I think that if you were to apply ED II to Tufts you would have a very good shot of getting in. The difference between ED II and ED I is that ED II gives students an opportunity to show their senior year grades and perhaps even bring up their SAT/ACT scores. That's it. So since Tufts has two ED rounds, they accept roughly half of all the people they'll accept via ED in the first go, and roughly half the second time around. So they still accept about the same amount of ED applicants as most schools (about 30%).

Any other questions, let me know!
