Chances of getting a retro active drop signed

Has anyone done a retro active drop before? I never have. I was wondering how willing professors generally are in signing these.

I've taken 0 finals btw so I feel I should be cleared.

The point of the professors signature is to let the department know you haven’t taken the final. This is usually done during 10th week, so since that’s passed I would recommend tracking the prof down asap to get the signature. They are more willing to sign if you filled out the form completely before giving it to them.

Well, I got my professor to sign it. But, now I have to give a note saying why I want to drop. It’s not an impacted course and it has nothing to do with my major. The truth is I took a fourth class to potentially boost my gpa. The class came down to one paper that was worth 100% of the grade near the end of the quarter. I got the paper with 2 weeks to work on it and eventually write 20-28 pages. I got to around 17 pages but I felt since I was rushing through everything the paper was really ****ty and I would end up hurting my gpa more then anything else. I mean I could have put more time in all the research/writing but I was an idiot this quarter. I was interning at a place and commuting everyday from Costa Mesa. I’m sure some people can handle that and I thought I could too, but obviously not. I don’t think this is something that anyone will sympathize with so I’m hoping this required explanation is more of a formality then something a council actually looks at really closely and scrutinizes. Because if it is, I feel like I’m screwed.

What class was it?

It’s a political science class.

???
