Chances of getting a single room?

I will be attending Drake University this fall as a freshmen. When I initially signed up for housing, I wanted a double room and I met someone at Orientation that I initially wanted to have as a roommate. However, a while after accepting them as a roommate we discovered that we were quite different from each other. Furthermore, I am an independent person and felt that I would prefer a single room instead. I contacted the housing department and found out that Drake has a two week waiting period before you can switch your living situation, and that as of now all of the single rooms in the freshmen halls are occupied. I was added to the single room waiting list (I happen to be the first person on that list). In other words, if a single room becomes available in either of the halls, I would be able to begin a room switch procedure. There are four single rooms per floor of the two freshmen halls, with the gender of the floor deciding which gender can occupy those single rooms. I was wondering whether or not there is a legitimate chance of any of the 12 or 14 male single rooms becoming available at all at some point. If any of you have personal experiences with this, please feel free to leave a comment below. Thanks again.

This is a question that really should be asked of the Drake housing office.

Personally I doubt many people would want to switch out of a single room, but you never know what may happen.
