My son was offered CAP. He applied to College of Natural Sciences - first choice computer science, second choice Math. Top 16% at a very good public high school. SAT - 2040. 10 AP classes. UIL Computer Science (2 years) - going to state this year. Lots of volunteer hours. Bottom line is this - if you are not in the top 8 to 9% then be sure to have plenty of good back up plans. My son was admitted to A&M and has scholarship offers from Trinity and SMU.

my son was just admitted OOS to computer science. He has a 34 ACT, National Merit finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction, 12 AP classes, varsity HS swimming, ECs, etc. He did not apply to Turing Scholars or Deans Scholars, but now wonders if he should have tried at least.

Good luck to you!
