hi, sorry i’ve never participated in a message system like this before. so, i am planning on applying to uc berkeley, usc, uc san diego, suny albany, tufts, uw, brown, and gw. i went to ghana and worked as a teacher there, i also worked for an oral history project about St. Lucia. I am nervous that I don’t have any safety schools on my list because the only two that aren’t on the US News Reporting list are Tufts and Brown. gpa 3. 45, gre v-550 q-720. Any suggestions for a safety school??
Thanks!

Hi all,

I am hoping to get accepted into GWU’s program for MS in PH Microbiology and Emerging Infectious Diseases (it’s offered through their Public Health School). I’ve just taken the GRE and, although still waiting for an official score, the range that I was given right after the exam was 690-790 for verbal and 670-770 for math. My GPA is only 2.9 for undergrad; however, I’ve been working as a research assistant in a Biochemistry lab for the last 2 years and have also taken 4 graduate classes that are required for completion of this program (my lowest grade was A-). I would like to apply for the summer semester and am wondering if anyone can comment on my acceptance chances. Also, can anyone make suggestions on what I can do to become a more competitive applicant? Would it make sense to set up a meeting with an admissions director to discuss how I should proceed with my application?

Thanks!
