I have a 3.9 GPA, I took AP Calc, AP Bio, AP Environmental Science, and AP Comp Gov. I also took SAT ii Mat i, math ii, and bio. I’m the top 1 in a class of 16 and my SAT score is 1820. I am school president and a possible valedictorian. I also play soccer for a youth team in Jordan.
The bad part is i don’t live in the US and I’ve heard that UT Austin likes prefers Texas high school students. I am an American though and was born and raised in Texas for a while. So does that make a difference?
And what are my chances of getting accepted there?
SAT too low ,get it above a 2000+ and you have a chance
@MyLonghorn thats probably the highest ill get and if i do increase itd be less than a 100 points. Dont the other factors take place? Like the AP’s, SAT 2’s, and extracurricular activities. Plus i heard of that top 10 percentile rule, is it for the class or for the country or state as a whole?
Architectural Engineering is one of the hardest majors to get accepted to at UT (I know because my dad is in the department). I don’t think you have much of a chance with the SAT score - they put a lot of weight on it. And while it’s great that you may be valedictorian, it’s such a small class that it won’t count for much. The majority of students play sports these days, so soccer doesn’t help much, either.
The top 10% rule applies only to students who attend high school in Texas.
