I’m currently a senior at an all girls Catholic high school.
I’m taking 4 APs: Calculus AB, Biology, Chemistry and Literature.
I have A’s IN Calc, Bio and Lit for my semester grades but I bombed my Chem midterm exam (got a D) and received a 84.4% (C ) for my semester grade. I asked the teacher for 1 bonus pt to bump it up to a 85 (B), but I don’t think she’s going to…
I’m involved in a lot of extracurriculars. I’m the president of our Speech and Debate club and also an editor of our school newspaper. Other activities include: Academic Challenge, SciOlympiad, Track and Field and our International Club. I’ve received over 200+ service hrs throughout my 4 yrs in high school. I also have 2 really well-written recommendation letters from two of my teachers. My cumulative GPA last year was 3.98. I’m not sure what is is this yr with the AP classes in and such. I submitted my UC applications a couple months ago. I’m currently really worried about my chances of getting accepted into UC Berkeley because of my Chemistry grade. Is getting a C on on a semester grade a really bad thing? What are my chances?
UCB’s provisional admission contract requires that you maintain a 3.0 unweighted GPA Senior year with no D’s or F’s. One C will not be a reason to rescind your acceptance and UCB will not see the C grade until you are accepted, enrolled and then send them the final transcript. Just get the next semester grade up to a B.
Good Luck.
