Chances of getting accepted

I am very skeptical if I will be able to get accepted into Michigan State. I am currently a high school junior and planning to apply before November 1st. I go to the top ranked high school in my state and it is known for its excellect academics and sports. I had a rocky freshman year but got everything together sophomore and junior year. I took some college credit classes but mainly regular classes which are more rigorous than you average school. My average freshman year GPA was 3.0 and my average sophomore/junior GPA was a 3.5 which averages about to be around a 3.4. My ACT/SAT scores were just average. I was in one club and won a class award. What are my chances looking like?

I was just up at State talking with admissions staff 2 weeks ago…your GPA is right on the “cut” line…but they will recompute it focusing on core classes (math, sciences, English, languages, history and social studies) anyway…so to really see how competitive you are you might want to do that yourself and throw out all the fluff stuff (gym, band, electives) and see how you stack up. You really want to be @ that 3.4+ range…and work hard to get an ACT comp at 25+ for sure…and maybe 28+ if hoping to shore up a shaky GPA! And a 3.4 without too much real rigor (like AP classes) is what it is…they have your schools curriculum so they know what’s available to you! Good luck, chin up, hit the books, consider an AP prep class, commit to taking it at least twice and make your Spartan dream come true!

ACT prep class…

I had a 24 act and a 3.4 high school GPA and I was accepted in 2013.
