I'm really nervous because of my freshman year GPA. I took one honors class and ended with a 3.07 (I know, ouch.) and sophomore year, I ended with a 3.8! Junior year I (so far) have a cumulative GPA of 4.2! That's with all honors and an AP too. Anyways, averaged together, that's only like... a 3.5 or 3.6 in total. I know there are other factors in the admission process, but should I even bother with such a low cumulative GPA? I'm so nervous -_- I also know that next year I'll be taking 5 AP's... Lit, Calc, Stats, Psych, and French. Help?

Oh and P.S., I haven't taken the SAT's yet :/ Next month though! How important are SAT's in general? Because I'm not really a good standardized tester.
To top it off, I also have a bangin' essay planned! Like seriously though. It's really good.

Another thing to note: I'm out of state!

calcualte your UC gpa, look it up. They do not count freshman and Senior grades when considering admissions and you probably need a 1800 at least to be competitive.

Freshman year gpa doesn’t matter.

Get above a 4.0 weighted and get above 2000 on your sat.
Don’t do so many clubs, it makes you look bad. Sorta’ like the ‘jack of all trades, but not good at any of them’. Instead, join 2-3 clubs, get officer positions in those. 2-3 clubs with officer positions is much better than member status in 5.

The peer counseling group is probably a waste of space on your app, unless you’re the founder or president.

what is this ? -.-

RAOK (Random Acts of Kindness Club)

lololololol ok, the random acts of kindness club was just kind of a cutesy club my friend founded last year. but as for the peer counseling thing, that is a legitimate club- one that you have to apply for and everything. they take 20 people out of about 75 who apply.

The community service will definitely be a plus, it shows you can be committed.
Kill the SAT’s… take a million practice tests, learn how to beat it! Make sure you study HARD for those SAT II’s, don’t underestimate them.
Try to get the official name for your peer counseling group as well. “X High School Peer Counseling Resource, President” has more weight than “president for a peer counseling group”.

SATs will make or break you. I think if you get an outstanding score (average for SB is about an 1850…I’d shoot for 2000+) it will make up for the lower GPA.
