Chances of getting admission

Here are my stats.

GPA - 3.85 (Unweighted)
GCE O' Levels - 7As ( I scored over 90% in five subjects)
GCE A' Levels - 3As ( I scored over 90% in two subjects)
SAT 1 - 2020
SAT 2 Math - 740
SAT 2 Physics - 760
Toefl IBT - 110

ECAs:
1) Production of an award winning short film
2) Mathematics Olympiad
3) Participation in national debate competitions.
4) Captain of the school soccer team
5) Loads of community work

Our high school does not have a ranking system, but it is the most competitive school in my country.

I spent three months working on essays, so I assume they are quite good.

I have applied to the following Universities:
1) Northwestern
2) Vanderbilt
3) Hamilton
4) Reed
5) Harvey Mudd
6) Brandeis
7) Bucknell
8) Colgate
9) UMich
10) Cornell

I am an international student, and I am asking for financial aid ( Vanderbilt and UMich are exceptions).

What are my chances?

BUMP…Anyone?

how good are your recomz…ad say u av a pretty good chance of gettin in to most of those…n how much financial aid dyu want?

No one here can tell you. An intnl needing aid does not have a logical process. Your chances go way up if your country doesn’t send many candidates. If they have full paying applicants from your country chances go way down. Chances go down if theY funded someone from your country last year and don’t feel the need for another until that student graduates…lots of luck needed here, so good luck!

Internationals needing financial aid, you are in a very tough position!
You have set your sights very, very high as well. Best of luck!

My recos are quite good. And I am in the top 5% of my class (300). I am willing to pay $20k per year. Most of the students from my country are applying for more than 90% aid. Could you tell me that as I am willing to pay 50%, do I have a much better chance than the other students? I have got private scholarships in my country for Vandy and UMich. So do I have a very good chance getting admitted there? My main query is whether my SAT-1 score will drastically hurt my chances of getting admitted? Oh and to answer 2college2college : My country sends a small number of students each year (200). But they are either accepted to HYMPS or state colleges (some people do pay the full amount). Very few students apply to LACs so what are my chances there?

Any more responses? Please…

you really need to provide a bit more context… what is the average sat score of northwestern accepetees at your high school?.. i know that at mine it’s 2109.something which allows me to judge my chances. my school is international so verbal/writing scores are lesser

you’re grades are good but you havent listed any courses or said whether it is the most challenging courseload in your school

what i am trying to gather before accurately chancing you is context which is crucial in an admissions read

from what i can gather from your post however,

1) Northwestern: rejected
2) Vanderbilt: accepted
3) Hamilton: rejected
4) Reed: rejected
5) Harvey Mudd: rejected
6) Brandeis: accepted
7) Bucknell: accepted
8) Colgate: accepted
9) UMich: accepted
10) Cornell: rejected

What 2college said. All schools are reaches for you right now, not because your academics are bad, but because you are an international student applying for financial aid.

Agree with people above; financial aid for international is really competitive and can hurt your acceptance ‘eligibility’ sometimes. Still, there is no way we can assure you whether you will get accepted or not. You’ve surely gotten the credentials, all you can do for now is await decisions.

Best of luck!
