I was wondering how many people applied ED1 or 2 and got deferred? I did, and while I realize that normally is a bad sign, I was hoping that maybe someone knew someone who got deferred from Bowdoin and later accepted. Also, if anyone knows how many people Bowdoin defers each year, I would really like to know.

Thanks!! and Congrats those already accepted (So envious!) & Good Luck everyone who is still waiting. (What an incredibly stressful time!)

I have a friend who is in my year whose older sister applied ED a couple years ago and was deferred but was then accepted in the RD pool. So don't worry, there is hope! I applied RD and am anxiously awaiting a reply. Good luck! I hope you get in.

I do know of a couple of students who were deferred and then accepted, though it stands to reason that I am far more likely to meet students on campus who were deferred and accepted rather than deferred and rejected (lol)...
My best guess is that more people will have to say no to Bowdoin this year because of the financials (its a tough time for families obviously and student aid is getting even stingier), thus opening up more spots and increasing your odds. Of course, that probably isn't very helpful if you end up getting screwed on aid as well (assuming you applied for it).
