If you like at the Data Book, AU gives you the exact odds of getting in the previous year (based on GPA and SAT/ACTs). So you don’t have to ask perfect strangers when the school itself provides you with the chances.

As for the intangibles, well, by definition they are intangible.

Below are the test score ranges for AU from College Navigator.
[College Navigator - American University](<a href=“College Navigator - American University ”>College Navigator - American University ) GPA is harder to compare because different schools and courses. Plus an A in gym class may be ignored by some colleges.
You could wade thru the AU Data Book to Table 15 etc. for more detail. [Academic Data Reference Book | OIRA | American University](<a href=“http://observer.american.edu/provost/oira/Academic-Data-Reference-Book.cfm]Academic ”>http://observer.american.edu/provost/oira/Academic-Data-Reference-Book.cfm )
My personal opinion is that College Navigator, run by US Dept of Education, is a more convenient source for data about most colleges in USA.

Hope this helps and good luck
