I've yet to take the SAT & ACT again this fall; these are my first scores. I'm planning to improve on math, obviously

Comm service hours: 200+

I've taken AP Language and comp, passed with a 3
This year I'm taking AP lit, AP environmental science and AP stats
all my other classes have been honors, throughout high school
I'm taking two dual enrollment classes this summer, my grades so far have been As

no sports or clubs, just NHS

I'm hoping I get accepted into either FSU or the other FL universities based on my stats so far, yet I'm worried that my chances will be hurt due to my lack of EC'S and clubs. Shyness is just not a good thing to have throughout high school.. lol

Vanessa, I believe your GPA and SAT scores put you in a good position for acceptance at FSU. As far as EC’s- maybe you can show good involvement in NHS and your community service? Showing a passion (and leadership) in one or two things can outweigh a long list of activities with little commitment.

Your SAT math score is below FSU’s minimum of a 500, but your ACT score makes up for that. There’s nothing spectacular about your profile, although it’s decent.

Have you calculated your FSU GPA? The only way your FSU unweighted and weighted GPA are a full point apart are if you’ve only taken IB/AP/DE courses. You should look into doing so, so that you know where you actually stand with FSU.

No. A 28 ACT wouldn’t guarantee admission to anyone. What she will get in on is that she has likely a 4.1ish FSU GPA with 4 APs.

To recalculate your GPA for FSU, you can use this worksheet:
http://cyberguidance.net/college/recalgpa.pdf
Just remember to use each semester grade in your calculations, and that FSU weights AP/Dual Enrollment/IB with an additional point (A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, F=0), and all Honors/Pre-IB courses an additional half of a point (A=4.5, B=3.5, C=2.5, D=1.5).

More than likely, with a 3.4 unweighted, a few APs and DE courses and mostly honors classes, it’s somewhere around a 4.1-4.2, which is pretty decent. :)

One more question… will any dual enrollment classes be included in the recalculation? I’m aware that only core classes are included, including language. I’m suddenly afraid that I’m taking these classes for nothing, since they aren’t considered core classes. They each only offer 0.5 high school credit/3 college credits.

My classes are intro to psychology and human growth and development… not exactly english or science. Will these classes count for anything at all?

Alternatively, if you would like, I could calculate it for you. I’d just need you to post (or message me, if you would like) each course with the grades for each semester and the class level.

But realistically, your FSU GPA is likely above a 4.0, which is not bad by any means. It’s just a good idea to know your FSU GPA since it can vary significantly from both your unweighted and your weighted GPA. :)

I’m sorry! I did not see that Math SAT that was below 500. However, according to a chart that I have for 2012 Fall admissions, the 25th percentile to 75th percentile is 26-30. Your ACT score puts you in decent shape according to this chart.

I just wonder what the stats for the Fall 2013 admissions were…

Actually, I’ve only tried recalculating with my final grades in each class. On my transcripts, for example, only one grade shows up per class, which is my final grade after 4 marking periods. I wish my school did grades by semesters, instead it’s all divided into the 4 grading periods D: by recalculating with one final grade, would it be somewhat similar to recalculating with two semester grades?
