you have a 5-6 percent chance of getting in, just like the rest of us. don't bother with chance threads now...we've got just 32 days till decisions

I think collegebond is probably planning to apply later this year or in future years, as he/she hasn't taken any SAT I/ACTs yet.

sorry, as you can probably tell from my post, I didn't really bother to acquaint myself with the details of your stats. You look like you're doing great, really. Keep it up and you'll be fine.

The internships and volunteering look great. Get good test scores and then sit back and wait like everyone else. Good luck.

thanks for the feedback. is yale worth going to for a future bio major or is princeton better suited for this?

yo dude where in the same boat ..same average too and bio major wanting to go to yale... sigh and we're both form nyc but i go to queens high shcool for the sciences at york college... sigh i hate college competition lol
yea but internship at doctor's office and pre0med club makes it look like your'e stongly dedicated .. but yeah i disagree that everyone has the 5 to 6 percent .. im sure somoene wiht a 2400 and someones with a 2000 have very different chances

yea true. lols we both go to a speciaized high too. does yale have a stroong bio offering though? thats what im wondering cuz princeton is easier to get into and closer to nyc which wuld help for when i wanna visit my parents during breaks and weekends.

You actually think you're getting an 800 on US History? You must be really smart, because I've seen people with 5's on the AP get in the 600's.

The US history is pretty tough. I got a 5 on AP and a 700 on the SAT II and was pleasantly surprised by how high my score was, lol.

Is SAT II USH really THAT hard? I had almost no knowledge in American history before this past September (I'm a Canadian), when I decided to take the SAT II in November. I basically got 1 textbook, 1 Kaplan study guide, and 1 US history for Dummies book, read through them once, and got a 740 on the SAT II.

Maybe it was a fluke?

not sure about princeton but yale has a high med school rate acceptance ( so i guessthey have a good bio porgram) but im sure princeton does too

Probably if you study for it, it's not that bad, lubinli. I just went in and took it and it was quite a while after I'd taken the AP test. In retrospect, it would've been a good idea to review. Or maybe you're just really amazing at US History :P

does yale accept supplemental materials? i know brown does.

Collegebound78,
Before commenting on which school is more difficult to get into, Yale or Princeton, you may want to see the following ranking based on difficulty of admission:

http://encarta.msn.com/encnet/departments/college/?article=10schoolsToughesttoGetInto07

so brown is harder to get into than yale. r u serious about that? i dont tyhink this list is in order. plus princeton is harder to get into than harvard some thing seems fishy here.

The reseach behind the article was done by PR. As I am sure you are aware, that's their business. That doesn't mean all is perfect, but it should be taken seriously. There's a big difference between quantity of apps and quality apps. MIT, Chicago and CalTech have always been known to have self selecting applicant pools (that is, applicant pools with great quality and fewer unqualified apps). I beleive PR attempts to remove, the unqualified apps from consideration. It's worth a trip to their site to check the criteria they use. In any event, here is the expanded list.

The complete list of the top 20 ("Toughest schools To Get Into").

1 Massachusetts Institute of Technology
2 Princeton University
3 Harvard College
4 Brown University
5 Yale University
6 California Institute of Technology
7 Stanford University
8 Washington University in St. Louis
9 University of Pennsylvania
10 Columbia University--Columbia College
11 Duke University
12 Williams College
13 Pomona College
14 Middlebury College
15 Swarthmore College
16 Georgetown University
17 Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering
18 Amherst College
19 Dartmouth College
20 Haverford College

Eh. Your stats are pretty much the same as 75% of the kids applying. Your grades aren't good enough to get you in alone, and you don't seem to have a hook. Without some serious improvement in grades or distinguishing extracurricular work the chances do not look good.

That's a stupid ranking, and encarta misrepresents it.

" The Princeton Review examined institutional data at the nation's Best 361 Colleges and found the top ten schools that are the toughest to get into. "

The Princeton Review did no such thing. The Princeton Review rankings are based on surveys sent in by college students about their own school.

well i plan on taking 3 courses at the local college and i am hoping to become an intel semifinalist. also im planning to join crew team which i know that ivies like a lot. plus i go to a really good school. and im from a single parent family. mayabe i still have a chance. idk. i hate the college process.
