Compare her scores and GPA to some of the posters on here that did not get admitted. The 25th %ile SAT scores were at 1030 according to the common data set. My D's high school--in Bloomington--states that 3.0 is sort of the minimum for IU and instate should be in at least the 50% for class rank--most are in the top 25% of their class. What kinds of courses did she take in HS? That will be a very important factor for her. The alumni (is it a parent or parents?) connection might help. I would guess it will be a reach, but I've been surprised by some of the posters that did and did not get it.

She is taking Precalc, Astronomy, American Sign Language, Economics, and the last english class in highschool.

She has some volunteer work as well.

Her alumni is her dad and her sister.

But yeah my sats werent great, like 410 and 560 and i got in. I looked on the sat website and 23 percent of students got sats in the 400 range for reading and 17 percent got 400 in math. I guess thats a pretty large chunk out of 29000 some students. Do you think she has atleast a moderate chance? I figure with her decent gpa, alumni and upper class that might out weigh the low sat scores. are you in agreement?
