<p>If I apply early with good recommendation letters and a good essay, will i have solid chance of getting to any of the mentioned schools? (Most interested in Case Western)</p>

<p>Your ACT is in the ball park for UIUC engineering, but your GPA is way too low.</p>

<p>You look like you might be in the “pocket” for Case–they reject applicants with scores that are too low, and waitlist them with scores that are too high. Your scores look on-par to me. However, your GPA might be too low. Good luck.</p>

<p>Thanks for the replies. I also have a decent reason for the low gpa, there was an eight week teacher strike which shot down my gpa, no make up sessions were offered.</p>

<p>Check out collegeapps.about.com and search the schools. They each have a link to a scatter plot with admitted, rejected, and waitlisted students by GPA and ACT/SAT. Its hard to predict because a 3.0 and a 32 isn’t a common combo but it will give you an idea. Of course it doesn’t factor in ECs or anything but it helps. Also, ■■■■■■■■■■ takes those graphs and your data then shows you exactly where you lie on the graph. Good luck!</p>

I don’t know much about the other schools unfortunately, but I think you have a good shot even with your GPA (since you seem to have a valid reason for it). </p>
