I'm a Junior in high school and next year I'll be applying to Princeton. Currently my GPA is a 97 (I don't know what it is on a 4.0 scale), my class rank is 10th (out of a class of 190), I'm a three sport varsity athlete (track all three seasons), Captain of one of those sports in the fall (and hopefully the other two this year), I've been on Student Council all three years of high school, Volunteered as a counselor last summer (as well as being a track and field instructor), volunteer with my catholic youth group in the fall (we fast and give out food and clothing to the homeless), member of the marching band and jazz band. My classes this year are: AP US History, Honors English, Spanish and Math and Regular Physics. My classes my sophomore year were: Honors History, Chemistry, Spanish and Math, and Regular English. My classes freshman year were: Honors Spanish, Biology and History (regular math and english). I'm currently eligible for National Honor Society, and will be submitting my application soon. I haven't taken SAT Subject tests yet, but will be doing so this spring. My PSAT score is a 1810 (not so great, but I'm getting a private tutor for the SAT and am hoping for a score of 2100 or above). Next year I will be taking AP English, Spanish, Chemistry and Psychology as well as Economics and Honors Precalculus. That's about it, and I was wondering (objectively) what my chances would be.

your resume sounds pretty solid, but i know from talking to my counselor, a big thing colleges on that level care about is your personality, that meaning your leadership and passion in what you do for instance. if you get a good sat score, like you said 2100 or over, and solid essays and interview i dont see why not. a guy from my school went to harvard, and got in almost every ivy league school last year, with almost an identical resume on paper, so that should be pretty encouraging
good luck!

Thanks, that’s very reassuring. I think that my writing is my strongest point, so I’m not too worried about the essay, just gonna have to polish and edit it them a lot. The interview seems a bit daunting though.

Princeton loves it when you break your writing into clear and easy to read sections.

If you do indeed have SAT Is and IIs all in the 700s (preferably mid-700s) your chances are good.

Are you recruitable for track–i.e., individual state championships, regional competitions with top-ranked finishes?
