Chances of getting in to UW Seattle.. please?

Hi I am a highschool student who is going to be a senior next year.
My dream school has always been University of Washington(Seattle) and i really wanted to ask you for what you think about my status and the chance of me getting accepted.
I want to double major in Art, and world language in college and uw seems like a perfect school for me as a washington resident, and a family member of alumnis of uw.
My scores are below average.. but ive got lots of EC's.

SAT : 1700
GPA : 3.3 uw
-i have only taken honors and regular classes till now. but im taking 4-5 ap's next year.
-im the club president of 2 clubs at my school. one of the clubs is focused on doing community and service so i have plenty of community service hours. the other club is art, which focuses on my future..
im also in 2 more clubs..
-i did sports for 1 year.
-im a state winner for 3 years for this world language speech competition in washington
-alumni: my sister and mom both go/went to UW.

i know that my gpa is a big big problem.. but im trying to get my sat scores up to 2000 so that it can cover my gpa at least a tiny bit..

i know that its a small chance... but i just wanted to hear more thoughts from many different people.. so please let me know what you think!!

I think you could do it! I wouldn’t say it’s definite acceptance but it seems like people with worse stats have gotten in. Good luck!

thank you!!! :D

Yeah, I’m going to be a senior too this fall and would love to go to UW. Unfortunately, UW considers the rigor of your course, gpa, and sat/act scores pretty highly. That’s not to say you don’t have a chance, it’s just not in your favor. UW does a holistic review so make sure you write insane essays and emphasize your EC’s. Definetly get your sat score up. Good luck, hopefully we both get in.

You have to raise your GPA. UW cares about GPA so much now. If you have under a 3.5 it’s really tough to get in unless your SAT score is over 2100 and you’re ethnic.

thank you for replying me, it made me feel much better!! yes i hope we both get in!! we can do this!!

and thank you, yes i know that my gpa is below the average point… but it seems like the only way to raise my gpa up is to repeat the year but i dont think i can do it. yes, im going to be studying for SAT over this summer really hard to get above 2000 on the october SAT which im going to be taking.
thank you so much!!

Your lack of any AP’s up to your junior year will hurt you a lot, as well as your B average in regular and honors classes. And even though you’re taking lots of AP classes next year, the adcoms won’t know how well you performed in them (grades). So in terms of college readiness, your application is looking rather dim.

And I don’t think that a high SAT score can actually make up for a low GPA. UW has never put a lot of emphasis on standardized test scores. Hence, the lower area of their middle 50% (520 CR, 570 M, 520 W).

yes, that is true… thank you. i will still try my best for everything even with this lower chance!! thank you for your reply.
