Chances of getting in UGA

Hello all currently I am going into my senior year of high school this year. Right now i have virtually no chance of getting into UGA but I want to know if I do these things will I be able to? Thanks.

Currently I have an Unweighted high school gpa of a 3.0. I have a UGA gpa of a 3.09 thanks to my 3 AP classes. I also have a 25 ACT score that i have only taken one time. Here’s what I am thinking If I take 8 AP classes this year and make an A in all of them (Which I am completely able to do I just slacked my entire high school career so far) I would have an Unweighted high school gpa of 3.33. But with all of them being AP classes I would have a UGA gpa of a 3.56. (I think I would after researching UGA adds .5 to the gpa of every AP class correct?) And I believe I can increase my ACT to atleast a 28 I am not sure though so take that into consideration or don’t.

What I am worried about is I don’t know if colleges will even look at my senior year of highschool and just pass me up because of my UW 3.0 gpa up to junior year. Do they look at senior year grades? Anyways guys it would be greatly appreciated if you guys can tell me whether I would have a good chance of getting in after doing these things or it would be a waste of time. Thanks!!

Hi there! Are you in state or out of state? That has a role in determining your chances… Unfortunately, even if you work extremely hard your senior year, your GPA and ACT score is still on the lower end for UGA. The average GPA for them is a 3.8-4.0 and their average ACT score is a 28-32. Colleges most certainly look at your senior year grades. Your grades from your first semester of your senior year are some of the most important grades they look at. I just graduated high school this past year and I knew many many qualified students that were not admitted to UGA. My advice to you would be to not apply early action. Apply regular decision so that UGA can see your grade improvement in senior year and also read any personal statement that you right. In early action, all UGA looks at is standardized test scores, GPA, and class rank. I hope this helps best of luck

I am in state. Sorry forgot to put that in my original post!
