Honestly, in my opinion, I think it could go either way. You’re not a shoo-in, but your SAT score is pretty good, and UF LOVES IB students. If you could just find a way to raise your GPA, that would be good. Or maybe mention in your essay why it is so low?

Also, if you’re an IB student, surely you have to have some good ECs? Isn’t that part of whole CAS program? (Or has my IB counselor been lying to me all this time?!)

thats not bad. like nickirows said, you’re on the edge. low GPA, but you’re probably in the top 10% of difficulty of schedule. your guess is as good as anyone’s.

Ethnicity I’m pretty sure doesn’t matter. Or at least UF says it doesn’t. And ufapplicant, you better get on those EC’s! IB students have to get 150 hours in order to pass IB. And CAS actually helps because then it gives you something to put on your application. Anyway, good luck! I’m in IB too, and I really, really want to go to UF. So nervous. :D

@Chargers2012, you too could go either way. Both your GPA and your ACT are below the middle 50% of UF applicants. But you have great ECs, and the level of difficulty of your classes is pretty good. And your essay must have been great, being the amazing IB writer that you are. But it won’t (or at least, it shouldn’t) make a difference if your sibling goes to UF. They take people based on merit, not their connections.
