Here are my stats:

I volunteer at the hospital, play the piano, and dance in my free time. I also tutor students.

What are my chances of getting in next year? Thanks!

Your stats are obviously in range, but plenty of people with those courses and stats are not accepted. Could you elaborate on your ECs?

I’ve played the piano since I was 5, danced since I was 6, I’m a black belt in tae-kwon-do, president of Math Club, been on the Science Olympiad team for the past 2 years.
I also have volunteer experience at hospitals (actually prepping patients for doctors, not typical filing work) from this summer and I have worked at a senatorial campaign hq.

I gather that you don’t want to reveal much here, which is understandable, but it comes across as a bit bland as a result.

I would say your chances are good on the basis of your class rank, stats, and acceptable ECs. Hopefully, your essays and recs will convey something that will spark the interest of ad coms at the schools to which you apply. Good luck.

You have a shot . . and there are MANY people like yourself who will apply.

Which is why the HYPed schools are a stretch for you and almost everyone.

Here’s Brown’s data:
% of Valedictorians rejected: 81%
% Salutatorians rejected: 86%
% of applicants scoring 33-35 on the ACT denied: 89%
% of applicants with a 36 on the ACT who were denied: 72%

Bottom line: GO For It . . but recognize that even if your chances are 3 to 4X better than the average applicant, that is still only a ~20-25% admit rate (which also means that 75- 80% are rejected.)
