GPA is high, which is good. SAT I, is a bit weak. EC's aren't special either. Do you have awards that stand out besides the "Walk on water"?

Not really, and thats the thing thats kind of a bummer for my chances.

forgot to mention that i was part of A-team for a couple years, but we didnt do very well.

You don't have a much worse chance than most people. You're sat I isn't too bad either. Writing isn't considered, and the Math helps the low CR score.

Oh well, the chances of getting into MIT are so random, I mean, no one can ever think of MIT as a safe school even if he/she got perfect SAT's and GPA and stuff. I mean, MIT is unique and it chooses students in its own unique way, but in general, your application looks "competitive"

i agree w/ omar, slak. your stats are fine, i wouldtn even worry about your sat score, there are people with 2400s who get rejected and people with 1900s who get in. your application definitely shows that you're competitive, and you're in the running with most of the applicants. for your chances though...i'd say you've got a good shot, but a lot of it will end up being luck. There were kids from my school who all the teachers thought should get in, and they got deferred, and i'm guessing it was because of space. your stats and ec's are definitely good though, and i'm assuming you had good recs, so you've definitely got a good shot. good luck!

btw, where else are you applying?

Well aside from MIT the only really big school for me will be Cal Tech

Else im just applying to schools like Notre Dame, Duke, and the such (not that theyre bad or anything).

I'm gonna say very slight chance as 800 + 660 + 640 = 2100, not 2070 :-D

Err whoops... got 770 on Math not 800, stupid mistakes lol

Also how does a 33 ACT look for MIT?

29 E
34 Sci
35 Math
33 reading

33 on the ACT looks better. According to the CB, that equates to a 1460-1500, which is about the range of 2190-2250.

That's good. I had a 33 on the ACT also (34E (no idea how), 33M, 32R, 32S), but only a 1430 sat (760M, 670CR, 650w, but that's not considered, so...).

wait they dont accept the writing portion of the SAT? Does that mean they dont accept the english portion of the ACT?

No, they have only chosen not to consider the writing portion of the new SAT for this year. The english portion of ACT will be considered.

im applying to mit reg decision, but my sats were much worse than yours... 710 math and 570 reading. my sat scores were the shakiest part of my application, but 10% of applicants with my range of scores get in (my interviewer told me that stat.) i probably have a worse chance than you but ive done a lot of stuff outside of academics. considering that mit is the hardest school to get in... my personal perception is that i have possibly a 2% chance. good luck to you :-)
