Chances of Getting in

Hey i Have a SAT score of 1070 and GPA of 2.7, do i have a chance of getting in? I'm not a resident of California, however I am a citizen of the U.S

Hi, TheHunk,

According to U.S. News, the average GPA of the first year students of CSULB is 3.4, and the SAT I 25/75 percentile scores are 920 - 1130. I guess your SAT score is OK, but GPA is a little low. So, you have a decent shot, but the admission may not be guaranteed. Why don't you apply to, in addition to CSULB, less selective CSU's such CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, CSU San Bernardino, etc for safety? Good luck!

I have a 3.0 and a 1260..do i have a chance of getting in CSU Long Beach?

I don't give chances, but i believe each Cal State favors local applicants. CSUlb is one of the more selective of the csu's. Definitely apply to more colleges if possible.

Also make sure you have met the prereqs listed on csumentor

Hey guys, I live a few miles from cal State Long beach and they come to my school all the time. Admission has been getting more competitve each year. Ever since Steven Spielberg graduated from there the applicant pool has drastically increased. It is VERY VERY difficult to get in if you don't live in California. However it is definitley NOT Harvard, Princeton, or Yale :) A rule of thumb: if u live in Cali, have a 3.3, and a 1050 SAT, you stand a shot...but I'm not an admissions counselor so I wouldn't know.

i don't think the hunk has a chance, they take in very few out of state students. if you were in state, you'd have a chance.

Sorry TheHunk, your changes don't look too good. The Beach has one of the toughest admissions of CSU's. It ranks with Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Since CSUs don't look at ec's you're even in worse luck. Moreover, since CSUs take mostly Californian's I have to say that the Beach might not accept you. Nonetheless, the admissions game is unpredictable and wish you good luck.

As for sophia, your SAT scores makes up for your GPA. It will be a tough one for you...just make sure you meet UCs/CSUs requirements and eligibility.

To both candidates: good luck and best wishes.

Thanks a lot, eiffelguy. I really hope that i can get in....i am a resident of Southern California (irvine) and i am aware that it is very hard to get into CSULB. I appreciate your feedback!

Do cal states look at the classes that you took in addition to just your G.P.A....cuz i have a couple of D's in two A.P. classes my junior year....but all the other classes i took were pretty hard and my A.P. scores are very good...even for the classes that i got a D in...senior year first semester my G.P.A. is a 4.1...Cal state long beach still hasn't asked for my transcript but i have gotten a letter from them requesting my ACT and SAT scores. Do they have a mid-year transcript check for your senior year?

Just wondering with my stats, do I have a chance?
-out-of-state from Kentucky
-3.43 uw
- 24 ACT
- 1200 SAT
- AP Human Geography (4)
-Also plan on taking the SAT II in: Lit, World History, and Spanish

Also, I received a D freshman year in Alg I...do you re-take the class or something? Am I automatically disqualified?

_themisfit you're in easily

and doesnt CSULB look at only soph and junior year GPA?

taffy: yes

themisfit: they dont look at sat 2s.

but then again ur prbably in college by now so u dont give a ****.
