thoughts?

Please- no question. He is so in! 800 verbal? Amazing. I've been looking into Fordham LC for a couple of years now, and from what I gather they'd love to have your son. That cartooning award sounds very interesting. NYU can be funny when it comes to admissions, I have a friend who was accepted with far less impressive stats. But thats the process for you!

I got into LC with a 3.25 GPA and 28 ACT. Yeah, I think your son has a chance.

I got into Lincoln Center with a 1.5 GPA. I applied to the part time program, so I didn't have to take the SAT/ACT. I took their entrance exam. I would assume that they place much emphasis on the essay. Knowing that Fordham is a Jesuit school, I took a risk and dedicated a paragraph in my essay to morals and their relativity.
Will to power=existentialist. They like to have idealogical diversity.

True Story! My essay, interview and entrance exam saved me. Thank God!

my friend who couldve been considered a juvenile deliquent was accepted to rose hill last yr.. she had a weighted avg. somewhere in the upper 60's to lower 70's and barely had enough credits to grad. high school due to excessive failing/cutting classes.

she was a strong test taker though and did get a high sat score.. she decided not to go because she wasn't ready for school and is taking a yr off..

goes to show you, that fordham emphasizes grades are most important.. but... other factors must contribute as well.

as for your son, he's in with scholarship

To Mystified --- I think he's easily in Fordham LC. As to why he didn't get in to NYU -- makes no sense.

My daughter was accepted into Fordham LC and absolutely loved the campus. The price, however, will keep her away. We don't qualify for financial aid which means we should be able to pay for it but....it just is not happening.

We have a great state school -- Penn State --- and she will most likely go there unless we win a lottery! She visited Fordham LC and absolutely fell in love with the campus. Luckily she also loved her visit to Penn State.

She's a great person, student and my guess will be successful just about anywhere......so we're pleased that we will be able to afford Penn State for her.

Lots of luck....my father went to Fordham in the 1940s --- he loved it!

thanks AdvicePlease. No one can figure out why my son didn't get into NYU. He actually appealed, and has been told that while the admissions committe never reverses themselves, if he wants to transfer after freshman year he's in so long as he maintains his grades or does better. My hope is that he gets into Fordham LC loves it and wants to stay. Even nicer if he gets some financial aide. He also applied to Penn State, we live in Maryland, about 15 miles from DC, but only recently so we haven't heard anything yet.
