Hi all i'm a junior in high school and soon to be overwhelmed by a the arduous college application process. I would really appreciate it if someone can give me some insight on my chances of getting into Cal-Berkeley and assuage my fears. i really want to get in. sigh umm as usual here are my stats as best as i can remember them off the top of my head
I plan on majoring in International Studies, economics, or political science

question: is it true that in applying for CAl-Berkley regardless of major it's good to take the SAT MATH level 2?

Asian-Male and California Resident

GPA:(if i followed the UC system correctly)=4.385W
SAT1=1940 (a bit low T_T)
SAT2= pending but i expect 720+

umm that's the best i can think of right now since i'm doing it off the top of my head but some feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot ^_^

ohh and also how would these stats stand with other UC's like LA and other schools ivies too maybe, thanks again

Why the frown face? An unweighted GPA would help guess.

ohh thanks for looking at my thread umm unweighted with al the AP classes 3.923 i'm not too sure how to calculate weighted grades according to the UC's

ohh and if it makes a difference, i'm the treasurer for the model UN club -_-

you're in..i got in with lower SAT's and about the same grades

^not exactly, college admissions process is kind of random, some people who I know w/ better GPA and SATs have been rejected from Cal

Most likely their personal statement did not shine too brightly.

I'd say raise your SAT score to at least 2200.

^ hahaha.... easy for you to say

psh, it's doable.

i know some girl who raised it by 170 points in a period of 4 months prep...

even without prep, the writing can change a lot due to sheer luck

Yes, but raising 170 is not typical. I know some boy who took the old SAT and raised his score by 20 points 2 years ago.

Maybe that boy had already studied for it when he took it the first time so he had maxed out his potential?

the person i knew didn't study and got a 1420 off the old SAT first time, then took it again and got a 1590 after studying.

Then again, i'm assuming the OP hasn't studied for it yet, and I may be wrong in that respect.

Hopefully what you assume is the case :)

You should try to get the Sat over 2000, and 60 points shouldn't be too hard if you study a little over the summer. But looking at your overall stats, I think you will probably get into atleast either Cal or LA. Your decision factor will most likely be the personal statement.

thanks a lot for your feedback everyone. yeah the only sad thing is my SATs ugh. how does Cal treat ACT scores since i believe i did much better on those? i'm also hoping that the books i wrote and translated might give me an added edge... i don't know but thanks a lot!! ^^

i think cal treats act scores the same as the SAT I>

When I applied, i submitted both.
