I've gotten a 32, 31, and 31 on the ACT and an 8 and 10 on the writing section... I'm taking the SAT tomorrow.

I'm applying to Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt, University of Chicago, and Northwestern. What are my chances of getting in?

Oh, and I have a 4.0 unweighted and I think a 4.667 weighted..and I’m 3rd in a class of 400-500 people.

your sports ECs are a little weak…other than that you’re in. Sure you don’t play Lax?

yeah i’m not the most athletic of people =)

I would say your a very competitive applicant based on the sheer volume of academic awards that you have accumulated over your four years in high school. However, after careful analysis of your awards, just for the sake of being organized and readily understandable, you should combine awards of the same type so that it is easier for admissions to grasp. One example of organizing your awards is re categorize them and separate them and list them in columns on a year by year basis. To admissions, the sheer volume of awards might discredit you if you do not put down only the most pertinent awards that you have won. Who’s Who Among American High School Students award is basically trash and is worthless to put on an application. The class skits in state competition seems like a white space void filler and could easily be collapsed to be more concise and less ramble and nonsense.

It seems to me that you are one of those applicants that join clubs for the sake of resume building. Do not list every single club you’ve ever participated in the your high school career. Admissions will see that your not dedicating your time efficiently, simply put the extracurricular activities that you dedicate the most time to down on the resume and especially the ones that you really care about and are committed to.

I know most clubs meet twice a week for and one and a half sessions and thats it. Its not really that much of a time committment, and all the clutter in your resume is more of a negative than a positive.

Its more of a critique on presentation of your resume than the actual content of the resume itself. Don’t make it seem your overdoing yourself

You are competitive based on your GPA, which is in line with Hopkins averages and you are currently taking a very stringent and rigorous course load. Six APs during the senior year is 1 more AP classes that I’ve taken in my senior (but i took two more college class at Harvard :stuck_out_tongue: ) and I must say that your definitely challenging yourself and it shows admissions that you have an active ambitious mind set when it comes to academics and activities outside of school.

I say you have an above average to exceptional chance at admissions in Johns Hopkins university. Good luck on your SATs!! Hope to see you on Homewood campus next yr in the class of 2012 :-)

yeah i didn’t list most of those clubs/awards on my resume, just mainly the ones i held office in and i combined the language awards and such.. thanks!

No SAT II’s?? !!

dont forget those woman =P
