I'm a senior in high school and i was deferred early action at ND. I'm wondering what my chances of getting in regular decision are with my stats... I really think I'm a borderline candidate and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight. Here's my info:

-3.83 unweighted GPA
-32 ACT composite, 2090 SAT composite
-AP Calc, AP physics, several honors classes this year; and i've taken several other AP classes and honors classes the past two years
-School is a Jesuit college prep school in Chicago, very competitive; i'm in top 15%
-involved with a lot of activities: Captain of the varsity hockey team, community tutoring, retreat leader (several times), big brother program, and i work once a week

Also, i'm not sure what to make of this but last week I got a letter from ND about financial aid-- "affording a notre dame education"... could this mean anything?

i go to st ignatius... our school doesn't rank but i was told that i was 50 out of 350 students by a counselor, so about top 14% or so. Jvon, do you mind me asking what your stats were? (act scores, gpa, etc)

i got a 31 when i applied EA, then a 33 which i sent to them for RD... i forget my gpa but i was like top 5 weighted and top 15 non-weighted out of about 600... for ec's i had some decent volunteering stuff, and i was captain of fball and bball team... i had one amazing rec and one average (at best) one... i don't think my essay was all that good though... you got a good shot if you write an amazing essay...

sucks being from chicago... after talking to a lot of students here, many kids that were accepted RD had lower stats (of course, that doesn't account for recs and the essay), but I'm still convinced it's a little harder to get in out of the chicago area

remember to keep bugging them and getting in touch with your regional rep. they keep track of every time you call/e-mail, and showing interest is really what I think got me off the waitlist. also, if you can schedule a visit through them and take the tour that would be good--i'm pretty sure they keep track of that too...

hm.... well thanks for all the help. I guess all i can do is cross my fingers. Do you know how I can get ahold of my regional representative? I've never received any info about one, and I'd like to get in touch with him or her...

Call administration, and they will ask you where you're from and transfer you to your regional rep. Also, if you go to the website--look up the administration, and the site will tell you what regions each rep has and the name and e-mail address of him/her.
