Chances of getting in?

just looking to get some insight as to whether I might get in

2.9 unweighted gpa, top 50% at strong public school in mass
ACT:27 SAT: 560m 630cr 640w SAT subject tests:460 latin (yuck) 650 literature
3 ap classes, lots of honors classes
good ec's and community service
uncle is MD who graduated from uvm
Also, I applied with VIP application, hope that helps

any thoughts would be great!

I'd say 65-76% chance which is very good.

thanks guys thats pretty much what i thought, but its certainly good to know others are thinking the same.

We have very similar stats, and I was deferred. You can find them at the following link:

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-vermont/603645-help-me-out-chances.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-vermont/603645-help-me-out-chances.html</a></p>

My son, also with similar stats (just a tiny bit better), was deferred. Another friend with slightly better stats than him, also deferred. Both used VIP app.

When I received my letter indicating my deferral, it said that the VIP applicant pool was very competitive this year, and they therefore had to defer many qualified students. This could be their way of softening the blow, but it sounds like a legitimate reason to me.

i would believe that from what ive been hearing uvm has been getting much more competitive as of late. i guess we'll just have to wait and see

Please keep us posted (my D's stats are very similar to yours -- she'll be applying next year).

i had 29 act
680 in spanish and math 1, 690 in US history
3.2 gpa (unweighted) 3.6 weighted
2 ap classes
an honors class
4 varsity letters
various extra curriculars in the summer
and was accepted and got a presidential scholarship. I would say that you have a pretty good chance of getting in. what state are you from?

I think your chances are more like 25-30%.
your stats are not good enough for instate students so for OOS i say you are not qualified.
They may however accept you if you are not applying for FA as that is how the instaters get to go for the low tuition/r&b of $21k

For what it's worth my son applied last year. 780CR, 720W,620 math. Gpa 93. Out of state with a big need for aid. Accepted(and attends) with a 4 year 15k grant per year if he stays above 3.0. Though it would have still saved $ to go in state at UNH it seemed UVM was really the place for him. He loves it! All I heard about was how happy he was and while I feared it might be the parties he also apparently studied a bit. 3.6 in semester 1. It's breathing room to maintain the grant. Good luck to all.
