I'm currently a high school junior in Atlanta, Ga. I've already emailed and scheduled to attend the information sessions and campus tour. So I've demonstrated interest.

I currently attend a VERY competitive college prep. school where the average GPA is a 3.45. Due to the strenuous course load, we can only take up to 3 APs per year.

My current states are:
GPA: 3.82
ACT: Taking next week. Expecting around a 30.
SAT: I took it without ANY preparation as a fling and got a 1230. I have a tutor now, and she's expecting around a 1380 or 1400.

APs: AP Euro, AP US, AP Chemistry, AP Art History (next year), AP Calc AB (next year), AP English Lit. (Next year). I'm in honors courses right now for everything else.

ECS:
-Competitive Swimmer (on Varsity and Club state levels)
-Altar Server for Catholic school
-Spanish National Honor Society
-Religious Retreat Leader
-Roughly 20 hrs. of Community Service per school year
-"Shadow Host/Student Ambassador" - Selected to give prospective students tours of my school
-Dean's List and Honor Roll (Except first term Jr. year I had one B and did not get it)
-Reward for Computing Excellance
-Participated in Spanish Exchange Program to Barcelona, Spain
-Choral Student: Sang at sports events and in New York City

Work:
Lifeguarding over the summer.

I know I need to get my current test scores up, but should I have a good chance of getting in? I'm worried if my GPA drops below a 3.8 (to maybe like a 3.76) my chances are gone. I don't know if this helps, but everyone in my family (including extended) has gone to UGA, many of whom had a much lower GPA than I do.

I think you’ll do fine. At info sessions you will learn that 3 factors for UGA early admission are GPA, test scores, and rigor of curriculum. You have 2 of those well under control, and the test scores are already good and very likely to improve. UGA will weight your AP class grades if they have not already been weighted by your high school.

I feel confident you will be admitted by early December. Congrats!

(What is the first letter of your high school’s name? How would you describe the “VERY competitive” atmosphere there?)

No, I meant a 1230/1600. I got a 700 on writing, but it’s easier for me to reference the score out of 1600.

I recently took the ACT and scored a 30. I’m much happier than I was with my SAT score, but want to take again and squeeze 1 or 2 points out of math now that I know what to expect.

The first letter of my school is an M. It’s a rigorous religious school.

Yes, I guess the general assumption among students is that Marist is much harder than the other two. I forgot BT in this - also another good Catholic school. All are excellent private institutions.

So do ya’ll think my chances of UGA Early Admission are good?

Your gpa is in the top 25%
Your test scores are in the top 25%
Your AP courses amount are in the middle 50%
If you have good EC’s and generally a good overall student, you should be admitted.

Do I need to fill out a form for the admissions office so they will know my child visited?
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions documents when a students attends one if its two daily information sessions. However, visiting campus is not taken into consideration during the admission review process.

1300 SAT, 570-CR, 730-Math, 580-W, or 1870. A GPA UGA calculated 3.95. 6 Aps, and almost all honors. Do you think I can get in with Early admissions?
